Founder and President

After eight years working in Land Development, Mr. Sears founded Urban in Northern Virginia in 1967. His vision was to establish a consulting firm with various independent departments that are self-managed, yet have the ability and desire to work together as a composite team to yeild a unique and superior end product for each individual client.

Urban has enjoyed steady and continuous growth over the past 50 years and now comprises 200 employees in three independent offices in Annandale, Chantilly and Winchester, Virginia.

Ed Sears has pioneered projects such as The Cascades in Loudoun County; Strathmeade Square, the first townhouse cluster project in Fairfax County; City Park Village, the largest residential project to be built in West Virginia; and Shearwater, a local and national award winning development in Annapolis, Maryland.
